Case # 41-6209

Log line: Reunited identical twins have peculiar powers that one does not want to share.

211.jpg (7K) Synopsis: During the first week of Fall semester, Anna Shuter - Dean of Students for a normally-quiet college - calls the Office of Scientific Investigation and Research (O.S.I.R.) after undergrad Sean Ellis assaults Jarred MacKeigan, a drunk and belligerent frat boy, using peculiar powers.

Case Manager Matt Praeger and Chief Science Analyst Peter Axon conduct electromagnetic tests on the site of the attack and conclude that Sean is gifted with psychokinesis. In search of witnesses and others who can add more information to their discovery, Praeger and Chief Data Engineer Lindsay Donner question Sean's longtime girlfriend Lee, who was present at the attack, but she's unaware of any psychokinetic powers. While Lee and Donner try to track down Sean, they encounter Alex - Sean's identical twin brother whose existence, until now, was unknown. Determined to study Alex's powers, Axon convinces the young man to submit to some tests. Alex shows tremendous skill and psychokinetic control...but, when Dr. Anton Hendricks brings Sean into the lab, Alex's results zoom off the charts, suggesting that the power depends on the twins' physical proximity.

In the meantime, Axon is offered a teaching job, and he tries to keep the news a secret until he makes the tough decision. But when Praeger finds out about the offer, he confronts his colleague to say that the team would miss him if he were to leave.

Investigating the twins' background, Donner and Hendricks discover they were put up for adoption as newborns, with their birth mother demanding they be given to different families. Following their reunion, Sean and Alex's mutual power continues to gain strength - while Praeger and the team question whether it is safe to keep them together. As the brothers catch up with each other, Alex (who had a poor upbringing) begins to resent Sean's privileged past. When the increasingly-jealous Alex supposedly accidentally loses control of his power during a psychokinetic test and narrowly avoids injuring Sean, the resentment becomes even more evident.

After the twins use their power in a destructive campus prank, Shuter is forced to call the O.S.I.R. again. The situation turns serious when Alex, seeing Jarred threaten Sean's girlfriend, Lee, angrily uses his powers to impale the young man on a jagged drain pipe, landing him in intensive care with a punctured abdomen. Upset, Lee visits Sean in his dorm room for comfort...but, unknowingly, finds Alex instead. Only after they make love does she discover she's been tricked into sleeping with her boyfriend's twin. When Sean learns of Alex's violation of Lee, he goes after his evil brother and a heated battle ensues; as they wrestle, psychokinetic power surges between them. The struggle ends with Alex draining most of his twin's energy and running off, leaving Sean in a weakened state. Then, desperate, Alex kidnaps Lee to further persuade his brother to relinquish the rest of the power. Sean finds Lee held hostage at an abandoned junkyard, with a wrecking crane hanging menacingly above her. A fierce battle results...leading to a tragic death, surprising insight into the twins' power and even more startling news about its legacy.
